Dewan Motors Plans Electric Pickup Launch in Pakistan

Dewan Farooque Motors Limited (DFML), a prominent Pakistani automobile manufacturer, is preparing to introduce an electric pickup truck in the local market. This initiative aligns with the global shift towards sustainable transportation and marks a significant advancement in Pakistan’s automotive industry.

The electric pickup truck, reportedly under development by Dewan Farooque Motors Limited (DFML), has been the subject of much speculation. While the badges on the vehicle’s images are concealed with stickers, research has traced the model back to Dayun Autos, a Chinese manufacturer. Online sources reveal that the vehicle is named DYQ1033BEV1R-H EV Luxury 2-seater (Right-Hand Drive). Though the name may seem unusual, it is highly likely that DFML will rebrand it if introduced in Pakistan.

It was further said by the sources that “this Revo-style electric pickup will offer an impressive range on a single charge and support fast charging technology, making it a game-changer in the commercial vehicle sector.”

Dimensions & Build

The electric pickup measures 5330mm in length, 1870mm in width, and 1864mm in height, with a cargo box size of 2380mm x 1499mm x 519mm. It has a wheelbase of 3100mm and a ground clearance of 210mm, making it well-suited for various terrains. The curb weight of the vehicle is 1900kg, ensuring stability while carrying loads.

Battery & Powertrain

The truck is powered by a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery from CATL, available in 60kWh and 65kWh options. The battery supports Chinese, Japanese, and European charging standards, with fast charging capabilities that can replenish 20% to 80% charge in just 45 minutes. The electric motor generates a peak power of 130kW (approximately 174hp) and a maximum torque of 330Nm, allowing the vehicle to reach speeds of up to 120 km/h. Its estimated driving range is 275 km (NEDC standard).

Exterior Features

The pickup features aluminum alloy wheels, side steps, roll cage protection, and a cargo bed with an anti-scratch coating. Buyers may also have the option to choose between a large or small rear bumper. The double wishbone independent suspension at the front and leaf spring suspension at the rear promise a balance of comfort and durability. In terms of braking, the truck has ventilated disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear.

Interior & Technology

Inside, the vehicle is equipped with PU leather seats, manual 4-way seat adjustments for both the driver and front passenger, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls. The dashboard features a GPS navigation system, a color display screen, USB and AUX audio inputs, and two speakers. The truck also includes power windows, power-adjustable mirrors, keyless entry, and a one-touch start system.

Safety Features

Safety remains a priority, as the truck comes with dual airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), central locking, and a seatbelt warning system. Additional features include Hill Start Assist, automatic door locking while driving, and automatic door unlocking in case of a collision. However, it lacks Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and cruise control.
