Ubisoft remains completely silent about the next Far Cry game. Fans have not seen a new entry since 2021. Consequently, this marks the longest stretch without a release for a franchise that reliably maintained a three-to-four-year development cycle. However, a notable dataminer recently shared some massive details online about the rumoured Far Cry 7.
On July 6, 2026, Ubisoft dataminer RogueTX (@AgaiinTx) took to X to outline what the developers have planned. The new claims point toward a major departure from the traditional series formula. Naturally, gamers should take this information with a grain of salt until Ubisoft makes an official announcement.

According to the leak, the next game will feature a high-stakes PvEvP scavenge-and-extract survival loop. This extraction shooter mechanic represents a massive change for longtime fans. Moreover, RogueTX clarified in a later post that Far Cry 7 will still include a traditional campaign alongside this new PvE mode.
The core objective also sounds highly demanding. Players will face a strict time limit of up to 72 hours. During this critical window, you must rescue up to six family members. Furthermore, an enemy faction known as the “Sons of Truth” holds them captive. Previous rumors suggested that actor Cillian Murphy might play the headlining villain of this specific group.
Survival will require careful resource management. The leaker states that Far Cry 7 will include safehouses scattered across the map. Additionally, the developers are bringing back the always-controversial weapon durability mechanic. Players must also navigate a hostile ecosystem as they explore. Currently, the leaked wildlife roster includes grizzly bears, wolves, foxes, and deer.
