The government has issued the E-Filing Rules 2026 for property-related cases involving overseas Pakistanis, introducing a digital system for filing petitions, submitting documents, and accessing court proceedings remotely.
Under the new rules, overseas Pakistanis can electronically submit applications and relevant documents before designated special courts without having to appear in person for every procedural step. Hearings can also be conducted through video links, allowing overseas litigants to participate in proceedings remotely.
The framework provides for electronic notices and allows court judgments and decrees to be uploaded to a designated online portal. Litigants will be able to access these documents electronically, while electronic evidence and court records will be preserved in digital form.
Paper filing will remain available when electronic submission is not possible. The rules also include an alternative filing mechanism for disruptions to the online system, ensuring technical issues do not prevent litigants from accessing the courts.
The new framework is aimed at making it easier for overseas Pakistanis to pursue property-related disputes by reducing the need for physical visits to Pakistan and improving digital access to judicial proceedings.
