A common issue that we all face is connecting outsiders to the Wi-Fi connection especially when there are a large number of guests at home or at big tech events. It becomes very tiring and at times difficult when you have to give your Wi-Fi password every time somebody asks about it. Don’t worry, technology has once again given us a way to simplify and outsourced this task to a simple piece of paper.

With the help of this ingenious web app, your troubles of device hoping will be behind you. Through a simple QR code scan, any android device will instantly connect to your Wi-Fi connection and ready to use. This app works on Android phones and tablets only. We tested this with an iPad 2 and a Microsoft Lumia 535 to confirm.

Click Here and follow the simple instructions. For those of you who are new to this, let me break down each step for you.

SSID is the name of your network, Password is obvious, Network type is the network authentication (security) and lastly, the QR Code Caption is what you want to say below the QR code.

Here is how my house’s QR code would look like if I properly filled in the credentials.

If you wish to set this up yourself, simply learn the SSID of your house. You can do this through various methods such as looking at it from your smartphone Wi-Fi settings. You have to type your SSID to the letter including any punctuation etc.
The password is again something you should know already, otherwise ask someone who knows it. The network type is a bit tricky, but the easiest way again is to use your smartphone, clicking on the Wi-Fi SSID and looking at “security”. You have to look for WEP or WPA/ WPA2. As shown below:

Keep in mind that you need a QR code reader app to read the code. You can find a good app on the Google Play Store. Try it out and let us know your experience and suggestions in the comments section.
