Apple users in Pakistan can finally experience next-generation mobile speeds. Contrary to widespread industry reports of a delayed 2027 rollout, 5G is now operational for compatible iPhones. Currently, both Zong and Jazz have successfully enabled 5G network support for Apple devices across their coverage zones.
Previously, hardware capability alone did not guarantee network access. Apple strictly controls 5G activation through carrier-specific settings. Consequently, alternative methods like VPN spoofing or jailbreaking failed to enable the network. Now, official support has arrived.
How Zong & Jazz Are Deploying 5G
Zong currently requires users to install the iOS 26.5 Public Beta. Furthermore, customers must enroll in Apple’s Beta Software Program via Safari. After installation, users have to manually enable “5G Auto” or “5G On” in their cellular settings. Recently, speed tests near Zong towers demonstrated download speeds between 244 Mbps and 290 Mbps. Zong has already activated commercial 5G services in over 16 cities and plans to expand to over 1,000 sites nationwide in 2026.
Conversely, Jazz announced that its 5G network is available for iPhones updated to the “latest iOS version.” The company currently operates nearly 180 pilot 5G sites across major Pakistani capitals. Jazz users also need to manually enable their 5G settings while inside active coverage areas. Additionally, Jazz recently enabled 5G support for several Samsung Galaxy devices.
The Push for Next-Generation Connectivity
This milestone follows the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s massive spectrum auction in March 2026. The PTA auctioned 480 MHz of 5G spectrum across multiple bands, generating $507 million. Jazz, Zong, and Ufone successfully secured frequencies during this event.
Jazz strengthened its portfolio with holdings across the 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 3500 MHz bands. This strategic mix supports broader coverage and high-capacity services. Meanwhile, Ufone secured spectrum for next-generation services but has not yet announced official 5G support for Apple devices.
Ultimately, this dual-carrier rollout marks a massive leap for Pakistan’s digital ecosystem. Existing 4G data packages currently function on the new 5G networks without requiring separate subscriptions. Therefore, users with compatible devices and active SIM cards can test these high-speed networks immediately.
