Traffic authorities in Lahore have extended operating hours at all driving licence offices, with centres now open from 8am until midnight across the city daily.
Officials said the city currently has 12 licensing testing centres and 33 licence facilitation centres providing driving licence services to residents throughout the provincial capital.
The decision was announced by newly appointed Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Sherazi while chairing a meeting reviewing licensing centres performance and operations.
The meeting was attended by the DSP Licensing, in charges of all licensing centres, and other relevant staff involved in service delivery and management processes.
Auto Licence Systems
Earlier this year, Lahore authorities announced plans to introduce automated driving licence tests to modernise existing procedures and incorporate technology into the testing system.
It was reported that the system will replace manual testing procedures with automated methods to improve transparency and efficiency in issuing driving licences across the city.
Officials said automation was expected to minimise human intervention, helping reduce errors and potential biases in evaluating applicants during the driving test process for fairness.
Authorities stated specialised equipment will be installed at designated centres, using technology to assess applicants driving skills through a standardised and objective testing process system.
It was added the system will record and evaluate candidate performance during tests, ensuring results are based on objective criteria without manual interference in assessments processes.
