The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has introduced a redesigned electricity bill format that no longer displays a detailed breakdown of taxes and additional charges on printed bills.
Under the new billing system, consumers will only see the total amount of taxes and charges on their electricity bills. To view a complete breakdown, customers will be required to scan a QR code printed on the bill.
The move marks a significant change in how billing information is presented to electricity consumers across LESCO’s service areas.
According to the revised format, several charges that were previously listed separately on printed bills will no longer be displayed individually. These include the Fuel Price Adjustment (FPA), Quarterly Tariff Adjustment (QTA), extra charges, and other applicable surcharges.
Instead, consumers will need to access the detailed information digitally through the QR code provided on the bill.
The redesigned bill also includes additional digital features aimed at improving customer services. A second QR code has been added for registration under the protected consumer category, while a third QR code allows customers to make bill payments electronically.
The change means that consumers who wish to review the exact composition of their electricity charges will need access to a smartphone or QR code scanning application.
While LESCO has not announced any changes to the actual taxes or charges applied to electricity consumption, the updated bill design shifts detailed billing information from print to digital access.
The initiative is part of the utility company’s broader efforts to modernize billing services and incorporate digital solutions into customer interactions.
