LUMS Consultancy Competition set to happen next month

The LUMS Consultancy Group, a student-run consultancy has embarked on another challenge by organizing the LUMS Consultancy Competition (LCC). LCC is scheduled to take place next month from 2nd-3rd March in the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

LCC is an adaptation of conventional case competitions held around the world. The competition is based on 2 rounds and is expected to hone the participants’ consulting skills. The competition revolves around consulting on various fields of businesses, including (but not limited to) HR, finance, operations and sales etc.

The competition’s participants are undergraduate students from universities across the country since LCG, being a student-led body itself, aims to expose undergrad students to the world of business consultancy.

The Competition will have a series of workshops as well. The topics of the workshops will be unconventional, new and engaging, something delegates are likely to look forward to.

For example, workshops will be conducted about Framework Application in Consulting, Structured Problem Solving in Consulting, Introduction to the types of Consulting {HR, Strategy, IT, Financial) etc. The primary focus, however, will be teaching students the art of problem solving.

Problem solving is thought to be an extremely important trait in modern-day consultants. Businesses around the world tend to hire consultants to help them out with issues prevalent within the business and that is what LCC aims to prepare its participants for. LCC’s real-lifelike case simulations are likely to do this extremely effectively.

Oh but LCC isn’t all about competitions and work; there are a number of not-so-formal activities planned as well. There will be a food street on Day 1 that will provide teams from different institutes and cities a chance to interact, relax and enjoy. To improve the experience of the delegates the event will have a carnival atmosphere with food-stalls, music and other entertainment.

The networking coffee session is going to be one of the best things of LCC. The coffee session is aimed at providing networking opportunities to all the delegates. Our panel will include industry professionals from top consulting firms like McKinsey, Bain, Deloitte, Ernst & Young.

To formally call of the event, there will be a closing ceremony to acknowledge the winners and the university/school that takes away the trophy, the event’s judges and the speakers etc. This will be followed by a formal dinner which would again give the delegates a chance to blend outside the competitive arena.

To ensure high quality and the sanctity of the event, LCC is on an exclusive university-to-university basis, i.e. only official university delegations can take part in the event.
