The National Heritage and Culture Division has launched a new lecture series at the National Library of Pakistan to support students preparing for the CSS examinations.
Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi inaugurated the “Beyond the Syllabus” series. The first lecture, titled “Knowing Pakistan: Culture, Society and the Making of an Effective Civil Servant,” was delivered by Federal Secretary for National Heritage and Culture Asad Rahman Gillani.
The session focused on Pakistan’s cultural and social landscape, the evolution of civil services, and the qualities required for effective public administration. Gillani highlighted critical thinking, sound judgment and evidence-based decision-making as important skills for future civil servants.
Khichi said the initiative aims to connect CSS aspirants with senior officials and professionals from the civil service, judiciary and other fields. He encouraged students to use the National Library’s physical and digital resources for their competitive exam preparation.
Gillani also discussed the historical development of Pakistan’s civil service, institutional challenges and the potential impact of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies on public administration. The lecture concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students received practical guidance on public administration and the responsibilities of civil servants.
