Pakistan Railways has suspended the operation of its premium Shalimar Express for one month after floodwaters damaged a railway bridge at Qila Sattar Shah Musan Kallar, disrupting rail traffic between Lahore and Faisalabad.
The Shalimar Express, which operates between Lahore and Karachi via Faisalabad, will remain out of service while repair work is carried out on the damaged bridge and railway infrastructure.
Railway officials said train operations between Lahore and Faisalabad have been suspended as a precautionary measure until the affected bridge is restored and declared safe for passenger services.
The temporary suspension has disrupted travel plans for passengers who rely on the Shalimar Express, one of Pakistan Railways’ major intercity services connecting Punjab and Sindh.
Authorities have not announced an exact date for the restoration of services but said operations are expected to resume after the completion of repair work and safety inspections.
Pakistan Railways has advised passengers to seek information regarding alternative train services and schedule updates through its official communication channels.
