The School Education Department has ordered an immediate halt to salary payments for all posts that have been abolished across government schools.
According to sources, 1,450 posts of various categories, including class-IV staff, were abolished in the previous phase. These positions will now be replaced by 1,450 school guards.
Officials said the school guards will be appointed on a lump sum salary basis and will not receive any additional allowances or benefits beyond the fixed pay.
An advertisement for the recruitment of school guards is expected to be issued next week. Candidates will be selected on the basis of prior security guard experience and an interview process.
Sources further said the monthly salary for school guards has been proposed at Rs 35,000.
