Punjab Education Department Sets April 1 as Start Date for 2025-26 Academic Year

The Punjab Education Department has officially confirmed that the academic year 2025-26 will commence on April 1, 2025.

The annual examinations for the current academic session (2024-25) are scheduled to take place from March 10 to March 20 in over 42,000 government institutions in Punjab. It is anticipated that over 6.5 million students will participate.

The results will be disclosed during the final week of March. In the interim, modifications have been implemented to the examination format for matriculation students.

The Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) has revised the marking scheme for Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies, resulting in a total increase of 50 marks to 100 for each subject. Islamic Studies will be evaluated in the ninth grade, in accordance with the new policy, and Pakistan Studies will be evaluated in the tenth grade.

The revised syllabus showcasing these updates has been integrated into the latest textbooks, and the printing is now in progress. Education officials believe that these adjustments will increase pupils’ grasp of both topics and overall academic standards.
