Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that he will personally teach students in Lahore starting from the first week of September, beginning with English and Chemistry classes.
In a statement, Rana Sikandar said he would start teaching English at primary school level and Chemistry at high school level, gradually expanding to cover other subjects as well.
The provincial minister explained that English and Chemistry are his favourite subjects, which is why he chose to begin his teaching initiative with them.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said he would visit a different school every week without prior notice to take classes personally. He added that the initiative was aimed at assessing the quality of education on ground and identifying gaps in teaching that need to be addressed.
The minister said he holds teachers in high regard and would feel proud to take on the role of a teacher himself. He further stated that the exercise would help the education department evaluate teaching standards directly and take corrective measures where required.
