Punjab education authorities have introduced strict disciplinary guidelines banning teachers from using mobile phones during official school hours, particularly inside classrooms, to prevent disruptions and improve the learning environment.
The directive has been issued under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline, and Accountability Act and forms part of broader efforts to strengthen discipline and professional conduct in schools.
Under the new rules, teachers are also prohibited from recording videos or capturing unauthorized visual content involving students or staff, a move aimed at protecting privacy and safeguarding student welfare.
Officials warned that violations of the policy could lead to immediate departmental proceedings under the accountability framework.
Authorities said the measures are intended to promote a more focused academic environment while reinforcing professional standards across Punjab’s education system.
