Punjab has introduced a new evidence-based traffic challan system across the province, including Lahore, requiring photo and video proof for every violation.
DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir said all traffic challans issued will now be backed by complete evidence. A video and photograph will be captured at the scene and saved as proof alongside each challan.
Citizens will receive an alert SMS from 8070 upon issuance of a challan, containing a link to the evidence of the violation. By opening the link, citizens will be able to view full proof of their traffic violation.
According to the DIG Traffic, traffic police across the province will issue challans through the Traffic Police One app, ensuring evidence accompanies every ticket.
The evidence-based challan system has been formally implemented province-wide on the directives of the Punjab chief minister. He said the fair and transparent process would reduce disputes between citizens and traffic police.
Police officials said the new system would save time for both citizens and traffic police. It would also enable effective, evidence-based legal action against those who fail to pay their challans.
