Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control Department in Punjab has launched a province-wide crackdown against token tax defaulters, warning of 100 percent financial penalties and vehicle confiscation.
Director General Excise Umar Sher Chattha said non-payment of token tax would not be tolerated under any circumstances, urging all defaulters to immediately clear their outstanding dues.
Vehicles found without paid token tax during the ongoing special operation will be seized on the spot, while unregistered vehicles will also face strict legal action across Punjab.
Checking operations and raids have been intensified across all districts as authorities move to recover outstanding dues before the current financial year concludes.
The department collected over 70,000 million rupees in the first 11 months of the current financial year, exceeding last year’s total collections by 15,000 million rupees.
Departmental figures show 40,000 million rupees were collected under motor vehicle tax, while 25,000 million rupees were recovered through property tax during this period.
Officials have described these figures as record-breaking performance, calling it the strongest revenue collection in the department’s recent operational history.
The Excise Department also announced strict action against property tax defaulters, with commercial properties facing sealing if outstanding dues remain unpaid by their owners.
Owners of residential properties will receive attachment notices issued under the Land Revenue Act, compelling them to settle all pending property tax obligations promptly.
Field officers have been directed to intensify efforts for recovering professional tax and excise duty, making enforcement operations more effective and result-oriented across the province.
Authorities have described this campaign as the most comprehensive and stringent operation launched against tax defaulters in Punjab in recent years.
