Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8 may follow a dual-chip strategy, according to a new report from a Korean source. The company is expected to use both the Exynos 2600 and a Qualcomm processor, likely the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. However, the chipset will depend on the region where the phone is sold.
This approach is not new for Samsung, as the company has used different processors for different markets before. If this pattern continues, North America will likely receive the Snapdragon-powered variant. Other regions may get the Exynos 2600 version instead.
Interestingly, the report adds that pricing pressure may have influenced this decision. The Exynos 2600 is said to be costly to produce. At the same time, Qualcomm reportedly offered more competitive pricing. As a result, Samsung may have accepted Qualcomm’s deal for some markets.
Meanwhile, earlier leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Flip8 will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor. However, no major changes are expected in the camera setup.
