An electric scooter battery exploded while charging in the parking lot of GC Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) on Wednesday, starting a fire that completely destroyed a university bus and damaged several scooters.
No injuries or deaths were reported.
A university spokesperson said the fire spread from the scooter to a bus parked nearby, which was burnt down entirely. Other scooters in the lot were also caught in the blaze.
The fire safety system at the university was activated immediately. Security and support staff evacuated the area and began initial firefighting before Rescue 1122 reached the scene. Rescue 1122 teams then brought the fire under control after extended efforts.
