The Government of Sindh has launched the People’s Bus Service connecting Shikarpur and Sukkur, aiming to improve public transport access and regional connectivity.
The service was inaugurated by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who said the initiative has been introduced for public convenience and urged commuters to take proper care of the facility.
According to the minister, the fare structure will be shared between the government and passengers, with the provincial government covering 50% of the cost while commuters pay the remaining amount.
Subsidy and Public Welfare Measures
During the inauguration ceremony, Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted several initiatives by the Pakistan Peoples Party, including transport improvements, subsidies, and agriculture support programs.
He noted that financial assistance has been extended to motorcyclists following rising petroleum prices, while farmers have received subsidies for fertilizers and threshing to support agricultural productivity.
Ongoing Development Projects
The minister also pointed to ongoing development work across Sindh, particularly in Shikarpur, including solar panel distribution and transport schemes designed to facilitate women.
The People’s Bus Service is part of broader efforts by the provincial government to enhance mobility, reduce travel costs, and expand modern transport infrastructure across the region.
