Nahid Rana produced a brilliant five-wicket haul of 5-40 to bowl out Pakistan for 163, sealing Bangladesh’s commanding 104-run victory in the first Test.
Pakistan resumed the final session at 116-3, needing 152 more runs but lost their remaining seven wickets for just 47 runs in a dramatic collapse on day five.
Taskin Ahmed struck in the opening over of Pakistan’s second innings, removing Imam-ul-Haq cheaply for two runs off only five deliveries to give Bangladesh an early breakthrough.
Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal stabilised Pakistan’s innings with a 54-run second-wicket partnership, but Azan was dismissed for 15 off 33 balls by Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Nahid Rana then dismissed captain Shan Masood cheaply for just two runs off five balls, pushing Pakistan deeper into trouble at a difficult stage.
Abdullah Fazal played a fine knock of 66 off 113 balls with 11 fours before Taijul Islam trapped him lbw, ending a 51-run partnership with Salman Agha.
Taskin Ahmed picked up his second wicket by dismissing Salman Agha for 26 off 39 balls, leaving Pakistan in deep trouble at 121-5 in 32.4 overs.
Rana claimed his second wicket by dismissing Saud Shakeel for 15 off 32 deliveries, before clean bowling Mohammad Rizwan for 15 off 46 balls shortly after.
Rana completed a match-winning spell by removing Hasan Ali, Noman Ali and Shaheen Afridi in quick succession to finish with outstanding figures of 5-40 in 9.5 overs.

Match-winning declaration
Bangladesh resumed day five at 152-3 and declared on 240-9, adding 88 runs while losing six wickets to set Pakistan a challenging target of 268 runs.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led Bangladesh’s second innings with a composed 87 off 150 balls, striking seven boundaries to anchor the team’s declaration total effectively.
Mominul Haque contributed a solid 56 off 120 balls including four fours, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim chipped in with 24 and 22 respectively.
On day four, Mohammad Abbas dismissed Mahmudul Hasan Joy lbw for five, while Hasan Ali removed Shadman Islam for 10 to give Pakistan early second-innings wickets.
Mominul and Shanto recovered Bangladesh with a commanding 105-run third-wicket partnership, both registering half-centuries before Shaheen Afridi dismissed Mominul for 56 at 128-3.
First-innings honours
Bangladesh posted 413 all out in 117.1 overs after electing to bat, with Shanto making 101 off 130 balls and Haque scoring 91 off 200 deliveries in reply.
Mushfiqur Rahim added 71 off 179 balls, while Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed contributed 33 and 28 respectively as Bangladesh established a commanding first-innings total.
Mohammad Abbas led Pakistan’s bowling with an impressive 5-92 in 34 overs, while Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets and Hasan Ali and Noman Ali grabbed one each.
Pakistan responded with 386 all out in 100.3 overs, with debutant Azan Awais top-scoring on 103, supported by Rizwan’s 59, Salman’s 58 and Abdullah Fazal’s 60.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz starred for Bangladesh with 5-102, while Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam claimed two wickets each and Nahid Rana picked up one wicket.
Bangladesh’s 27-run first-innings lead proved a vital platform, as their bowlers and batters combined to build a decisive match-winning advantage across the remaining two days.
The two teams now prepare for the second and final Test match, with Bangladesh holding a 1-0 series lead following their well-earned and comprehensive victory on Tuesday.
