Valve officially confirmed that its highly anticipated Steam Machine and Steam Frame VR headset will launch this summer. The company originally announced these two devices in late 2025 alongside a redesigned Steam Controller. Since then, fans have eagerly waited for availability and pricing details. Now, Valve has finally given gamers a timeframe to mark on their calendars.
Summer Launch & Steam Verified Expansion
Valve still has not shared exact release dates. However, the company confirmed both devices are “shipping this summer.” Since the summer season officially begins in a few weeks, gamers will not have to wait much longer.
Moreover, Valve used this latest announcement to discuss the Steam Verified program. The company is actively expanding this system beyond the portable Steam Deck. Therefore, the new small-form-factor Steam Machine will use nearly identical Verified requirements. Consequently, if a game runs well on the Steam Deck, players can expect it to run acceptably on the Steam Machine without any extra configuration.
Valve Steam Machine Price Expectations
Understandably, social media users immediately noticed the continued lack of pricing details. Hardware costs remain a major concern for gamers right now. The industry currently faces severe component scarcity and rising costs. For instance, the Steam Deck recently received a significant price hike. Microsoft also increased Xbox Series MSRPs by $20 to $70 in October 2025. Similarly, Sony raised PlayStation 5 prices by $100 to $150 in the U.S. this past April.
Furthermore, Valve previously stated that it will not subsidize the Steam Machine. The device will carry an MSRP that competes directly with similar PCs. Because RAM and GPU prices keep climbing, Valve might not have solidified the final price tag yet. Recently, industry analyst Mat Piscatella shared his thoughts on Bluesky that he expects the base model Steam Machine to cost around $1,699 USD.
Steam Frame VR Specs & Estimates
Meanwhile, the upcoming Steam Frame brings premium features to the standalone VR market. The headset boasts a Snapdragon processor, onboard storage, Wi-Fi 7, and eye tracking. As a result, some analysts expect a premium price tag. Price estimates currently range from $500 to $1,000.
On the other hand, Valve might want to aggressively compete with the Meta Quest 3 to boost SteamVR adoption. This strategy could lead to a more accessible price. Back in late 2025, Valve told Road to VR that the new headset will definitely be “cheaper than Index”. Currently, the full Valve Index kit, which includes the headset, controllers, and two tracking beacons, costs roughly $1,000 USD.
