Meta has introduced a new AI system for businesses across its messaging platforms. The company is rolling out the Meta Business AI Agent inside WhatsApp to help businesses manage customer conversations and support tasks more efficiently.
The feature is now available globally for businesses of all sizes. It works with the latest updates of WhatsApp Business on Android and iOS. Businesses that do not see it yet are advised to update the app through the business tools section.
This rollout aims to simplify how companies handle large volumes of customer messages while keeping response times fast and consistent.
Global rollout of Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp
Meta introduced Business Agent at Conversations 2026 as part of its wider AI push for messaging tools. The system is designed to handle multiple customer chats at the same time without delays.
The assistant is now rolling out worldwide through Meta Platforms across WhatsApp Business on both Android and iOS. It is also available through the Business Platform.
According to the source, businesses of any size can activate the feature without waiting for a limited rollout. This makes the tool accessible to small shops as well as large enterprises. The update is also positioned as a way to improve sales and support workflows directly inside chat conversations.
AI support for 24/7 customer conversations
The new AI agent allows businesses to offer customer support around the clock. It responds to messages even outside working hours, which helps reduce delays for customers. At the same time, businesses save time because the AI manages routine conversations while human teams focus on complex issues.
Control remains in the hands of businesses. They can decide when the AI responds and when a human agent should take over. This ensures the system supports teams rather than replacing them.
The AI is designed to keep conversations active during peak hours as well. It can respond instantly when message volume increases.
Training, control, and cross-app integration
Businesses can train the AI agent to match their communication style. It can learn from past customer chats if the business allows access to them. This helps the system respond in a tone that feels familiar to customers.
Setup is done through the WhatsApp Business tools page. Companies can choose to train the agent using old conversations or start fresh. If trained from scratch, the AI improves over time as it handles more chats.
Once active, the agent can be managed through a dedicated chat called “Your AI agent.” In this space, businesses can update instructions, add information, and refine responses.
Three interaction modes are available. In “My reply” mode, all responses stay manual. In “Suggestions” mode, the AI drafts replies for review. Businesses can also allow the AI to respond directly in chats.
The system is not limited to WhatsApp. It also works across Instagram and Messenger. This allows businesses to respond faster, no matter where customers start the conversation. Meta says the goal is to support the full customer journey, from first question to final purchase or resolution, all inside messaging apps.
