Winter Vacations in Schools Begin Next Week Across Pakistan

Islamabad: Winter vacations for schools across Pakistan are set to begin next week, bringing excitement to students nationwide. While most provinces have already issued notifications regarding the holiday schedule, Punjab remains the only region yet to confirm its official dates.

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), which is responsible for the supervision of schools and colleges in Islamabad, is anticipated to release its winter vacation schedule in the near future. During the harshest season of the year, educational institutions in the capital observe a one-week holiday.

This year, it is expected that winter vacations will run from December 22^nd to December 29^th, with schools reopening on December 30^th. However, there is a possibility that the holidays may be extended until December 31^st, with classes resuming on January 1^st, 2025. Additionally, private schools in Islamabad have already declared their winter vacation period, which will span from December 20^th, 2024, to January 6^th, 2025.

Winter Vacation Schedule in Other Provinces

The education department of Punjab had previously proclaimed winter vacations from December 20^th, 2024, to January 10^th, 2025. However, no official notification has been released, leaving parents, teachers, and administrators waiting for confirmation. Previously, the provincial education minister had proposed that the holiday schedule be altered due to the extended winter season; however, there has been no subsequent information regarding the modifications.

The winter vacation for students of the KP province has been distributed by the education department. Classes in the prairies will be suspended from December 22^nd to December 31^st, 2024. However, the institutions in the mountainous regions will remain closed from December 22^nd to February 28^th, 2025, due to the adverse climate.

Similarly, the Education Departments in Balochistan province will close schools in regions that experience frigid temperatures from December 16^th, 2024, to February 28^th, 2025, and reinstate them on March 1^st, 2025. From January 1^st to January 10^th, 2025, schools in mild climate regions of the province will be closed.

The winter vacation schedule for Sindh has been established, and institutions in the province will be closed from December 22^nd to December 31^st, 2024. When the steering committee of the Sindh Education Department approves this new session, classes will resume on January, 1^st ,2025.
