The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has formally opened the door for a new round of spectrum allocation aimed at expanding next-generation mobile services across the country. Under the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-Organization) Act, 1996, and a policy directive issued by the Government of Pakistan, the regulator has invited both local and foreign companies to apply for a multiband spectrum auction that will support NGMS and 5G services nationwide.
The auction will cover spectrum in the 700 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 3500 MHz bands. These frequencies are widely used for high-speed mobile broadband and next-generation wireless networks. By offering multiple bands in a single auction, the PTA aims to give operators more flexibility to build stronger and faster mobile networks across Pakistan.
According to the authority, the spectrum will be awarded along with operating licenses to successful bidders. All terms and conditions related to the auction process are detailed in the Information Memorandum, also known as the IM. The document is available on the PTA website and on the PPRA website. Interested companies are required to review the IM carefully before submitting their bids.
