Apple is taking a major step to make Siri smarter and more helpful. The company confirmed it will integrate Google’s Gemini models to power Siri while also using Google Cloud technology to build its own foundational models. This partnership is expected to reshape how Siri answers questions and interacts with users.
Apple has shared that Gemini models will run directly on devices and support Private Cloud Compute, but it has not revealed more technical details. A new report adds that Apple can request changes from Google or fine-tune Gemini independently. This will allow Siri to respond in ways Apple prefers.
Early tests of the Gemini-based Siri show that responses contain no Google or Gemini branding, although Apple may adjust this before the official release. The new Siri aims to provide direct answers to general knowledge questions, instead of simply linking to web results.
The report also notes improvements in Siri’s conversational abilities. The assistant is expected to offer more empathetic and natural responses, giving users better emotional support during interactions.
Handling unclear queries is another focus. Instead of replying with “I don’t understand,” the Gemini-powered Siri will try to interpret user requests and provide helpful answers.
Apple has not confirmed an official launch date for the upgraded Siri. According to the report, the rollout will be gradual, with some features likely appearing at WWDC 2026 and others arriving in spring 2027.
