Apple’s next Pro iPhones are starting to take shape through fresh leaks. A new report now points to a noticeable design change on the front of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The update focuses on the Dynamic Island, which could become much smaller this year.
According to the rumors, Apple will shrink the Dynamic Island cutout on both Pro models. The new cutout will measure 13.49mm in width. That is a clear drop from the 20.76mm cutout used on the current iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The difference is not minor. In fact, the new size represents about a 35% reduction compared to the existing models. If accurate, users will see more usable screen space at the top of the display. The smaller cutout could also give the phone a cleaner look.
This change may connect to another long-running rumor. Reports suggest Apple plans to move the Face ID hardware under the display on the iPhone 18 Pro models. If Apple hides more components beneath the screen, it would naturally reduce the space needed for the cutout.
In addition, Apple is rumored to upgrade the display technology itself. The iPhone 18 Pro lineup may use LTPO+ OLED panels. LTPO panels already allow dynamic refresh rates for better battery life. The LTPO+ version could improve efficiency and brightness even further.
The improvements may not stop there. Recent leaks also suggest that the entire iPhone 18 lineup will feature upgraded selfie cameras. While details remain limited, Apple appears to focus heavily on front-facing hardware this year.
Apple seems determined to refine the front of the iPhone without making dramatic changes. A 13.49mm Dynamic Island, compared to 20.76mm today, may look like a small tweak on paper. However, in daily use, it could make the display feel more immersive.
