The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi has decided to set up a campus in Islamabad, marking a significant step in the institution’s expansion beyond Sindh. The proposal was approved during a recent meeting of the Board of Governors.
According to officials who attended the meeting, the process of acquiring land for the campus in DHA Islamabad is nearly complete. The proposed campus is expected to serve working professionals and students seeking advanced business education without having to relocate to Karachi.
During the meeting, members of the board were informed that establishing the campus would not require the introduction of a new federal law. Instead, the existing IBA Act of 1994 would be amended to include provisions allowing the institution to operate a campus in the federal capital.
Secretary Boards and Universities Abbas Baloch assured the board that the necessary amendments to the law would be made as soon as possible so the project can move forward without delay.
In addition to the campus proposal, the Board of Governors also approved the construction of 32 residential flats for IBA faculty members and staff. Officials said the housing project is intended to address accommodation needs and support the institution’s growing academic community.
The Islamabad campus is part of IBA’s broader plan to expand its presence and academic services across Pakistan. Over the past few years, the institute has already been offering some executive education courses and Executive MBA programmes in Islamabad to meet the demand from senior professionals, government officials, and corporate leaders based in the region.
