The Sindh police decided to establish a dedicated Aerial Surveillance Division (ASD) in the province. This new division will continuously monitor citizens, traffic, roads, key highways, railway tracks, and katcha (riverine) areas.
Inspector General (IG) of Police Javed Alam Odho recently chaired a meeting at his office to initiate the project. He immediately formed a committee of senior police officers. Consequently, this committee will devise the standard operating procedures (SOPs), operational framework, and organizational structure for the new division.
IG Odho stated clearly that aerial and digital monitoring have become imperative. Furthermore, he called this technology the future of modern policing. He emphasized that this system will facilitate law enforcement and make it far more effective and trustworthy.
During the meeting, DIG Information Technology Imran Yaqub briefed the participants. He explained the existing methods of aerial surveillance and the active use of drones. Additionally, he detailed the modern equipment features, training requirements, and overall benefits of the technology.
Above all, the proposed surveillance system will help police prevent crimes in urban areas, major highways, railway tracks, and riverine regions. The system will quickly identify suspicious activities and ensure prompt police action.
Besides preventing crime, the digital and aerial monitoring by the Aerial Surveillance Division (ASD) will actively manage traffic and control crowds. Ultimately, this modern approach will protect the lives and property of citizens much more effectively.
