Authorities have announced that all motorway vehicle owners must replace their expiring M-Tags at no cost before the May 31 deadline passes.
Officials confirmed the replacement service remains entirely free until June 1, after which a mandatory fee of Rs 150 per tag will be applied to every vehicle.
From July 1, the replacement fee will double to Rs 300, making early renewal the most affordable option available to all motorway-travelling vehicle owners.
The M-Tag is an electronic device that allows vehicles to pass through motorway toll plazas without stopping, reducing queue times and improving road traffic flow.
Motorway administration officials have warned that vehicle owners with expired M-Tags may encounter difficulties and delays when attempting to pass through toll plazas.
Authorities are urging citizens not to wait until the final date, advising them to visit their nearest M-Tag centre at the earliest opportunity available.
Daily motorway commuters, commercial vehicle operators, and long-distance travellers have been specifically instructed to complete their M-Tag replacement as soon as possible.
The administration has also asked all motorway users to verify their M-Tag status before travel to prevent any disruptions at motorway entry points.
Officials stated the initiative aims to modernise the motorway toll system, making it more transparent, efficient, and convenient for all users across Pakistan.
