The government has officially withdrawn its earlier decision to temporarily reduce speed limits. As of June 20, authorities have restored the previous speed limits for all categories of vehicles on motorways and national highways.
Updated Speed Limits for Motorways
According to Motorway Police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, drivers can now return to the original speed brackets. Therefore, cars and other light vehicles can travel at up to 120 kilometers per hour on motorways. Meanwhile, passenger and heavy transport vehicles are once again allowed to travel at up to 110 kilometers per hour.
Additionally, the spokesperson confirmed that the government has fully reinstated the previously applicable speed limits across all national highways.
Safety Guidelines for Motorists
Syed Imran Ahmed explained the rationale behind this move. He stated that the government took this decision to facilitate road users. However, he stressed that public safety remains the ultimate priority.
Consequently, the Motorway Police urged motorists to strictly follow the speed limit and traffic regulations. Despite the restoration of the old limits, officials advised drivers to always wear seat belts. Furthermore, travelers must maintain control of their vehicles and exercise caution while traveling.
