The Punjab Traffic Police has launched a province-wide crackdown on motorcyclists riding without helmets, introducing stricter penalties to improve road safety.
Under the new enforcement policy, riders found without a helmet will not only be issued a traffic challan but will also have their motorcycles impounded for 24 hours.
According to officials, helmet use has been made mandatory across Punjab as part of efforts to reduce road accidents and protect motorists. Traffic police have been directed to ensure 100% compliance with the helmet rule through strict enforcement across the province.
Authorities are also continuing action against lane discipline violations. Officials said more than 20,000 motorcycleswere impounded last month for crossing lane lines and other lane discipline offences.
The crackdown is part of broader road safety measures aimed at reducing traffic accidents and encouraging responsible driving. Motorcyclists have been urged to wear helmets at all times and follow traffic rules.
Meanwhile, Punjab has also implemented a new digital challan system across the province, including Lahore. Under the system, every traffic challan will include photo and video evidence to enhance transparency and strengthen enforcement of traffic laws.
