The Lahore Traffic Police has prepared a list of the top 100 vehicles with unpaid e-challans as part of a renewed crackdown on traffic fine defaulters across the city.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Sherazi has directed e-challan recovery squads to launch strict enforcement against the identified vehicles. During a meeting with recovery teams, he handed over the list of the top defaulters and instructed officials to track the vehicles with the assistance of the Safe City surveillance system.
According to the CTO, e-challans are currently issued for more than 20 traffic violations using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.
He directed officials to immediately impound vehicles with outstanding e-challans at police stations. Special recovery teams have also been activated to ensure effective enforcement.
The Lahore Traffic Police has integrated Safe City, Police Service Centers, and the driving license system to speed up action against violators.
Authorities also revealed that 14 key police services have been restricted for motorists with unpaid e-challans, increasing pressure on defaulters to clear their dues.
The crackdown comes as Punjab authorities have also stepped up enforcement of mandatory helmet laws for motorcyclists.
Officials said motorcycles of riders found without helmets will now be impounded for one day, in addition to being issued traffic challans. The move aims to improve road safety and ensure 100% helmet compliance across the province.
Meanwhile, Lahore and other parts of Punjab have introduced a new digital challaning system, under which every traffic challan will include complete evidence to improve transparency, accuracy, and enforcement.
