Samba Bank announced today, on Monday, that Mustafa Ilyas has resigned from its Board of Directors. The bank disclosed the decision in a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). Mustafa Ilyas, who served as the bank’s non-executive director and chairman, stepped down effective August 16, 2026. He had held the position of chairman since October 27, 2022.
Before joining Samba Bank’s leadership, Ilyas spent more than 17 years at PwC. Most of his work there focused on the banking sector, while he began his career providing external audit services to listed companies.
Ilyas is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (UK). He also holds a Master of Engineering from the Imperial College of Science, Technology, and Medicine in London.
His resignation marks a change in the leadership of Samba Bank as the listed lender moves forward without its long-serving board chairman.
