Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves recorded a modest increase during the week ended August 13, 2026, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The SBP reported that its foreign exchange reserves increased by $25 million during the week, reaching $17.081 billion, compared with $17.057 billion a week earlier.
Pakistan’s total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $22.506 billion as of August 13.
Of the total, $17.081 billion were held by the State Bank of Pakistan, while commercial banks maintained $5.424 billion in reserves.
Foreign exchange reserves held by commercial banks declined by $17.1 million compared with the previous week.
The latest reserve position provides Pakistan with approximately 2.55 months of import cover, reflecting the country’s available foreign exchange buffer for meeting external payment requirements.
The modest increase in SBP-held reserves comes as Pakistan continues to focus on strengthening its external position and maintaining adequate foreign exchange liquidity.
