Apple’s long-rumored smart home display may arrive later this year. The device has been widely called HomePad, although Home Hub is another name linked to it. The latest macOS 26.7 beta has added more evidence that Apple is working on the device. While the software does not confirm the HomePad name, its code reveals several details.
According to a deeper look at the code, the HomePad will run a version of tvOS. However, its interface will work more like a large Apple Watch than a traditional smart display. The home screen will include “Faces” and a “Face Gallery.” These will work much like Apple Watch faces, but they will appear on the larger HomePad display.
Users will be able to customize these faces with different widgets and Smart Stacks. The device will also support widgets from iPhone apps, giving users more ways to personalize the screen. Apple also appears to be adding a privacy feature to the device. Personal information in widgets will only appear when the user’s iPhone is nearby.
The code also points to two HomePad versions. One model will come with a speaker base, while the other will be designed for wall mounting.
Apple has not officially announced the device or confirmed its final name. Still, the latest software clues suggest the company’s smart home display is getting closer to launch later this year.
