The Punjab School Education Department has ordered 100% verification of student enrollment data in government schools across the province to address concerns over allegedly inaccurate or fake enrollments.
School heads have been directed to update the latest and accurate student records on the department’s online portal. Head teachers will verify students’ names and enrollment details from pre-primary to Grade 8, while records of Grade 9 students will also be updated and verified individually.
Schools have also been instructed to enter Grade 9 students separately according to science, arts, and matriculation technology groups. Enrollment data for Urdu-medium and English-medium students will likewise be recorded separately.
The department has given school heads three days to complete the enrollment verification and certification process.
Chief Executive Officers of Education have been assigned responsibility for ensuring that all school enrollment data is collected and verified. They have also been directed to verify the available surplus stock of free textbooks at schools.
The requirement for free textbooks for the 2027-28 academic session will be calculated based on the newly verified enrollment figures.
According to the School Education Department, the verification of school enrollment data and records of surplus free textbooks must be completed by September 8, 2026.
