Apple appears to be giving charging speeds a much-needed boost with the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The phone reportedly reaches 50% charge in just 15 minutes. According to a new source on X, the iPhone 18 Pro Max can charge from 0% to 50% in 15 minutes. Apple also made the same claim during the phone’s announcement.
Further testing shows the phone reaches 34% after only 10 minutes of charging. It then reports a full 100% charge after 55 minutes. However, charging does not actually stop until around 76 minutes. The numbers also mark a clear change from the iPhone 17 Pro Max. In our review, the previous model reached 38% after 15 minutes. It showed 100% after 72 minutes and reached a peak charging power of 35W.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max reportedly pushes that peak much higher. It can apparently draw up to 52W while charging, giving it a sizeable boost over its predecessor. The faster charging is not entirely unexpected. The iPhone 18 Pro Max has a larger battery than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. It also uses a 2nm chip, which should deliver better power efficiency.
Apple has been conservative with charging speeds for years. However, the iPhone 18 Pro Max suggests the company is finally putting more focus on faster charging.
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra still has an advantage in one key area. It reaches 51% after 15 minutes and displays 100% after just 43 minutes. That said, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is charging a smaller battery. So, the two phones are not being compared under the same conditions.
