DC fighting game fans have waited nearly a decade for a new entry. NetherRealm Studios released ‘Injustice 2’ back in 2017. Since then, the studio shifted its focus entirely to ‘Mortal Kombat 11’ and ‘Mortal Kombat 1’. This shift broke the studio’s traditional alternating release schedule. However, a newly discovered playtest suggests that ‘Injustice 3’ may finally be moving forward behind closed doors.
The Secret Culver City Playtest Hints at Injustice 3
According to recent reports, recruiting firm Good Gamer Group just removed a suspicious listing. The post sought high-level fighting game players for a closed session in Culver City, California. Warner Bros. Discovery maintains major corporate offices in that exact city.
The organizers held the playtests on September 14 and 15. Selected participants earned $250 for four hours of gameplay and direct developer feedback. Furthermore, applicants needed top-tier credentials. The listing required testers to place within the top 25% of competitive 2D fighters like ‘Street Fighter 6’, ‘Guilty Gear Strive’, ‘Granblue Fantasy Versus’, or ‘The King of Fighters’.
The listing explicitly specified a “AAA 2D fighting game”. Consequently, this description rules out upcoming 3D brawlers like ‘Virtua Fighter Crossroads’ and ‘Dead or Alive 7’. NetherRealm’s signature style fits this description perfectly.
Evidence Continues to Mount
This recent playtest does not stand alone. Earlier this year, an artist at Warner Bros. Games inadvertently listed ‘Injustice 3’ directly on a public resume. In addition, several veteran franchise voice actors recently dropped subtle hints about reprising their roles.
Meanwhile, NetherRealm continues an aggressive hiring push for its next major title. An outside playtest strongly indicates that a functional, playable build already exists.
Nevertheless, neither NetherRealm Studios nor Warner Bros. Games has officially confirmed the project. The playtest leak provided zero confirmation regarding the roster, plot, platforms, or release window. Players must remain patient, but the evidence for a DC universe return is stronger than ever.
