Capcom has some massive news for Nintendo fans. During the September 16 Capcom Spotlight, the publisher announced three more ‘Resident Evil’ games for the Nintendo Switch 2. ‘Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition’, ‘Resident Evil 3’, and ‘Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition’ will officially launch on October 16. Furthermore, these digital versions will include all previously released DLC.
Ditching Cloud for Native Power
Historically, Switch owners missed out on modern Resident Evil titles. Capcom ported older games like ‘Resident Evil 0’ to the original Switch. However, newer blockbuster releases skipped the console entirely. Instead, Capcom released cloud versions for Nintendo’s platform. Unfortunately, these cloud games proved largely unpopular. They required a constant, stable internet connection. Naturally, this completely ruined the portability that fans love about Nintendo systems.
Now, Capcom is fully utilizing the more powerful Switch 2 hardware. Native releases mean no more streaming lag or severe technical compromises. This October wave joins a strong existing lineup. Currently, ‘Resident Evil Requiem’, ‘Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition’, and ‘Resident Evil Village Gold Edition’ are already available on the new platform.
Early Adopter Discounts & Physical Releases
To celebrate the launch, Capcom is offering early adopter discounts on the eShop. Currently, Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition features a 25% discount. Meanwhile, Resident Evil 3 offers a 34% price cut. Lastly, Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition gets a 20% discount. These sales are live for pre-orders right now. Moreover, they will remain intact through November 7.

Do you prefer physical media? Capcom has a plan for that, too. Physical versions featuring Game-Key Cards should arrive in January 2027. However, Capcom has not confirmed these physical options for North America just yet.
What Lies Ahead in 2027
The Resident Evil 2 remake has been a massive hit since 2019. In fact, it recently became the best-selling game in the entire franchise. Therefore, these new Switch 2 releases give fresh audiences a perfect chance to experience Capcom’s best modern work natively.
Looking ahead, Capcom’s strong Nintendo support will continue rolling into 2027. The publisher has already confirmed that ‘Resident Evil: Veronica’ will launch on the Switch 2. This upcoming remake will hit the Nintendo system on the exact same day as other platforms. Fans can expect more details about a release date very soon. Additionally, rumors suggest that story DLC for ‘Resident Evil Requiem’ will drop sometime after Resident Evil: Veronica finally comes out.
