Activision has officially teased exciting new content for its latest shooter. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 arrives on November 6. Furthermore, this free update drops for everyone who already owns the game. At launch, the title shipped with a complete campaign, one massive DMZ map, 12 core 6v6 maps, and 16 unique game modes. Consequently, this upcoming update expands the game by roughly 50% over the next few months.
Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Brings New Multiplayer Maps & Modes
Activision recently released a thrilling two-minute teaser trailer. The footage highlights three new multiplayer maps arriving on launch day. Players can jump right into Canyon, Shoot House, and Backstab. Shoot House originally debuted in the 2019 reboot and returned in recent installments. Meanwhile, Backstab appears to reimagine the classic Call of Duty 2 map Burgundy.

Additionally, developers plan to release more than six maps by the end of the season. Ministry and Overflow will arrive later. Fans can also expect several “CLASSIFIED” maps in the near future. Moreover, the popular Kill Block mode will receive a special Crash variant during the season.
Expanding DMZ & Classic Modes
A highly anticipated addition is coming to the extraction mode. Season 1 introduces the ‘XO1’ DMZ map. This new location is significantly smaller than the default Hajin map. As a result, its claustrophobic interior layout paves the way for intense PvP combat. Players will also encounter new equipment, in-game events, and XO1-specific DMZ Orders.
Finally, plenty of fresh and returning game modes will launch very soon. Infected and Possession arrive in the coming days to celebrate Halloween. Subsequently, Grind, Drop Zone, and a 1v1 Gauntlet variation will drop alongside the Season 1 launch. Fans will also get a brand-new Battle Pass. This pass includes two Operators named Blix and XERO, two Apex Attachments, and three ranged weapons.
