Alibaba.com has unveiled a suite of AI-powered digital solutions designed to help Pakistani small and medium enterprises (SMEs) gain effective access to international buyers and global export markets.
A delegation led by Shawn Yang, general manager for the Asia-Pacific region, met Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan in Islamabad on Monday.
Discussions centred on implementing the DigiSME Pakistan initiative in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Authority, alongside plans to broaden the reach in online export markets.
The proposed programme aims to strengthen the digital economy by enhancing the operational efficiency of SMEs and connecting them directly with international demand through digital trade tools.
Haroon Akhtar Khan referenced the memoranda of understanding signed between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Alibaba Group during the recent state visit of prime minister to China.
Khan said the services of the platform would enable SMEs to integrate into global markets through digital trade, creating new economic opportunities and generating measurable growth in national exports.
Shawn Yang highlighted the role of AI-driven commerce tools, noting that intelligent of Alibaba.com matching systems connect Pakistani sellers directly with verified overseas buyers seeking relevant products.
He said Pakistani goods were well-positioned to succeed on the platform, adding that expanded digital access would be critical to realising the full export potential through online channels.
