Google is no longer the world’s favorite company. After clinching the number one spot from Apple last year, they lost out to the same company this year.
According to the FutureBrands, Apple is this year’s favorite company. Each year, FutureBrands takes the 100 largest companies in the world and asks 3000 consumers and industry professionals to talk about how they feel about these companies. They are also asked to rate them based on various pre-determined factors. The end result is a compilation based on the companies’ perception strength as opposed to financial strength.
Surprisingly enough, Google is nowhere to be found on the list this year. And there’s a reason. Those of you who are up to date with the developments in the tech world will know that Google is now part of a parent company called Alphabet. And so Google now appears as Alphabet on the FutureBrands list – at number 21. The downfall from number 1 could be attributed to a malfunction in the software of self-driving cars that Alphabet manufactures. Furthermore, people still think Google is the parent company. And so it is possible not a lot of people were familiar about Alphabet on whom the survey was carried out.
The rise of Apple to the number one spot comes at a time when the iPhone sales are said to be dwindling. Despite that, they surfaced at the top with people opining that they have authenticity, individuality and work with more purpose than any other company.
However, all tech companies have thrived. Securing number 2 and 3 spots are Microsoft and Samsung, respectively. Also in the top 10 are Amazon and Facebook.
