Cambridge International Education cancelled AS Level Mathematics paper 9709/12 after confirming the examination paper had been leaked before students sat the test.
The leaked paper will not be used to calculate any student results, and all affected candidates in the impacted regions must sit the replacement examination instead.
Cambridge confirmed that neither students nor schools in affected areas will be charged any additional fees for the replacement examination taking place on 9 June 2026.
Results and next steps
Despite the cancellation, Cambridge stated that the original results release date of 11 August 2026 will remain unchanged for all affected AS Level Mathematics candidates.
Schools in the affected regions will receive full details and further instructions from Cambridge International Education by 15 May 2026 at the latest.
Cambridge advised all affected students to keep their focus on their remaining scheduled examinations while the organisation manages the replacement process on their behalf.
Investigation and enforcement
Cambridge International Education has launched a formal investigation into the paper leak and confirmed it is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities on the matter.
The organisation stated that individuals found to be involved in leaking or distributing the examination paper will face strict legal action and serious consequences.
Cambridge also warned that anyone found sharing confidential examination material could face a permanent ban from all future Cambridge International Education examinations worldwide.
Action is also under way against networks operating on social media that have been selling fraudulent examination papers ahead of the official sitting dates.
