Chairman Alibaba group expresses desire to invest in Pakistan ecommerce industry

Jack Ma, chairman Alibaba group, has expressed his interest in investing in Pakistan’s e-commerce sector. He expressed this interest during a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.

Jack Ma is currently in Davos to attend the World Economic Forum alongside Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and delegates from all around the world. After a meeting with the Prime Minister, Jack Ma said,

“We are ready to invest for establishing an ecommerce platform in Pakistan.”

He further added that he wants to support small scale industries in developing countries and informed Nawaz that the Alibaba Group has been facilitating 60 million companies across the globe. He mentioned that Alibaba is keeping a close eye on Pakistan’s progress in ecommerce sector.

He also commended the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor for the promotion of bilateral economic ties between Pakistan and China. Jack Ma has extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to visit his company headquarters in Guangzhou.
