The federal government has increased salaries by 35 percent for teachers, professors, associate professors and assistant professors serving under the Tenure Track System (TTS), with the revised pay package taking effect from July 1, 2026, following approval by the prime minister.
An office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance confirmed the new pay scales for professors, associate professors and assistant professors under the TTS.
The minimum basic salary for professors has been raised from Rs394,875 to Rs407,230, with the annual increment increased from Rs19,305 to Rs20,320.
For associate professors, the minimum basic salary has been increased from Rs263,250 to Rs370,810, while the annual increment has risen from Rs15,356 to Rs18,320.
The minimum basic salary for assistant professors has gone up from Rs175,500 to Rs288,020, with the annual increment increased from Rs12,065 to Rs17,720.
The notification stated that employees in service as of June 30, 2026, will have their basic salary fixed under the new TTS Scale 2026 according to their current stage.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the financial burden arising from this revision will be borne by the respective universities from their own resources, and the federal government will not be bound to bear any additional financial responsibility in this regard.
All other terms and conditions will remain unchanged.
