The federal government has completed procurement of 24,000 mobile devices for 12,000 petrol pumps, marking the rollout of the first ever digital fuel management system.
Devices have been handed to oil marketing companies through the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), ensuring integration with the newly developed application for fuel monitoring.
Petroleum Division sources confirmed imported and exported petroleum products will be sold exclusively through the digital application, enabling monitoring of stock levels, delivery, and transactions.
Authorities stated the system aims to prevent illegal hoarding and smuggling of petroleum products, while ensuring transparent tracking of supply chains across all registered fuel stations.
Training sessions are underway for petrol pump staff on the fuel management system and application, conducted by IT Ministry, NITB, OGRA, and Prime Minister’s Youth volunteers.
Officials confirmed only mobile phones approved by NITB and PTA will be used, with the testing phase of the application already completed before nationwide implementation begins.
The government will announce a petrol quota for vehicles, enforced through the mobile application of Pakistan Digital Authority, restricting purchases beyond the allocated individual quota.
No citizen will be permitted to buy petrol exceeding the assigned quota, ensuring strict compliance with the new digital fuel management regulations across the country.
