The Higher Education Commission Higher Education Commission (HEC) has increased the fee for degree attestation from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 3,000 as part of its transition to a fully online and paperless attestation system.
According to officials, the revised fee structure is linked to the newly launched digital attestation platform, which allows students to submit applications online without visiting HEC offices or sending physical academic documents through courier services.
HEC Chairman Niaz Ahmad Akhtar said the updated system is designed to streamline the verification process and improve efficiency across universities and the commission. He added that a portion of the collected fee will be transferred to universities to support document verification services.
Under the previous system, applicants often had to bear additional costs such as travel, accommodation, photocopying, and separate university verification charges. The new digital framework aims to reduce these burdens by shifting the entire process online.
The commission stated that the upgraded system will also enable the issuance of digitally verifiable e-attestation certificates, making the process faster and more secure for students across Pakistan.
