Huawei launched four new Mate 90 series phones in China yesterday. The Mate 90 Pro Max and RS models use the company’s latest Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. Huawei did not share many details about the new chip. However, a Geekbench test for the Mate 90 Pro Max has revealed more information about its performance.
The Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max, listed as CMM-AL10, scored an average of 1,317 points in single-core tests. It reached 5,381 points in multi-core testing on Geekbench 7. The highest recorded scores currently stand at 1,528 points for single-core performance. The multi-core score reached 6,169 points in the same test.
These results put the Kirin 9050 Pro between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in CPU performance. The results also provide an early look at Huawei’s latest mobile processor. Geekbench lists the Kirin 9050 Pro with a nine-core CPU. It has one Prime “ultra” core running at 3.1GHz.
The main core is joined by six performance cores clocked at 2.7GHz and 2.2GHz. The processor also has two efficiency cores running at 1.75GHz. The chipset uses a Maleoon 955 GPU with six cores. Each GPU core is clocked at 1.05GHz, according to the Geekbench listing.
Meanwhile, Bernstein Research has provided details about the chip’s manufacturing process. The report claims the Kirin 9050 Pro uses a 7nm-class process. The chipset is reportedly produced using SMIC’s N+2 or N+3 process technology. However, Huawei has not officially confirmed these manufacturing details.
For now, the Geekbench listing offers one of the clearest looks at the Kirin 9050 Pro. More testing could provide a better picture of its performance against newer flagship chips.
