Lahore Traffic Police have intensified their campaign against e-challan defaulters, impounding multiple vehicles with outstanding traffic fines exceeding Rs. 100,000 as part of a citywide enforcement drive.
According to a spokesperson, three vehicles, including a government-owned vehicle, were taken into custody after authorities discovered significant unpaid e-challans during routine traffic checks.
In one operation, Traffic Inspector Zaheer intercepted a vehicle carrying pending e-challans worth Rs. 134,000. Separately, Traffic Inspector Azam impounded a government vehicle on Mall Road after finding unpaid fines totaling Rs. 101,000.
Meanwhile, Patrolling Officer Alam Butt took action against another vehicle whose owner had accumulated Rs. 134,000 in outstanding e-challans.
Police officials stated that the owners of all three vehicles cleared their pending dues immediately following the enforcement action to avoid further legal consequences and penalties.
To strengthen enforcement efforts, Lahore Traffic Police have joined hands with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority to establish 16 dedicated teams tasked with identifying and taking action against habitual e-challan defaulters across the city.
The special squads will use surveillance systems and traffic monitoring technology to track vehicles with repeated violations and unpaid fines.
Chief Traffic Officer Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, advised citizens to check the e-challan status of vehicles before purchasing or selling them to avoid inheriting unpaid penalties.
He also urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations and promptly clear outstanding fines to avoid vehicle impoundment and other enforcement measures.
Officials said the crackdown is part of broader efforts to improve road discipline, increase compliance with traffic laws, and ensure timely recovery of unpaid fines across Lahore.
Traffic authorities have warned that operations against e-challan defaulters will continue and may be expanded in the coming weeks as enforcement measures are further strengthened.
