The Lahore Traffic Police has begun suspending the driving licenses of motorists involved in traffic accidents as part of a stricter enforcement campaign aimed at improving road safety.
The action was taken on the directions of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim, under which the licenses of 68 motorists involved in traffic accidents have already been suspended.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, the driving license of any motorist involved in a fatal or non-fatal traffic accident will now be suspended immediately. Authorities warned that individuals found driving with a suspended license will face legal action.
CTO Syed Abdul Rahim said motorists found responsible for negligent or reckless driving will have their licenses suspended for at least one year, while those involved in fatal accidents will face both license suspension and legal proceedings under the relevant laws.
He emphasized that reckless driving will not be tolerated and reaffirmed the traffic police’s commitment to strict enforcement of traffic regulations to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.
